all my leaves fell off gold on the ground
breeze blowing my treasure around
stuck is what i am a perch for the birds
they sing to me sweet words
wanna uproot
wanna just go dancing
stretch these branches out
so listen when i shout
i ain't stuck no more
i just wanna be the place where lovers meet
steal a secret kiss
they would carve a heart names etched in my bark
to cure my loneliness
wanna uproot
wanna just go dancing
stretch these branches out
so listen when i shout
i ain't stuck no more

church bells tell the time
you've got your agenda & i've got mine
i'm sleep deprived, up at five &
the classics are pushin' though the static on the countdown
it comes & goes
in highs & lows
ain't it strange
it comes in waves
got dead skin restin' on these old strings
strung around my old dreams that i find
every time i start wondering
which wave will be coming in this time
but i'll buckle up & take the ride
take the joy & take the pride
in knowing what i am & what i ain't
cause no matter how high or low
life it goes fast or slow
so grab what you love & take the reigns
it comes & goes
in highs & lows
ain't it strange
it comes in waves

“flashlight”
pedaling slow now
on a night bike ride
on a night bike ride
it’s such fine time
to get your mind right
no cars no stoplights
it gets your mind right
you n’ your flashlight
pedaling fast now
carolina to mass now
georgia didn’t last now
wound up westbound
california sierras
wyoming’s teton
pedals i got my feet on
turn the wheels round
and i wonder
and i wander

sun give me a disco ball light show on the surface of the sea
not a moment too soon the bittersweet perfume reminds me
the thunder clouds could roll in & scold this ocean
make a mess of this scene
i’m seein’ the reason for me being
your granting me a glorious evening
the ferry fires it’s foghorn to warn the boats born from this tiny ‘ol town
the sails silhouettes confess the feelings in their chests for the sun they’ve found
all at once the ball drops and the ocean’s heart stops
the old folks & old boats sigh in relief
their sun beaten bodies & sea bruised souls
have weathered the storms & their ropes have hold
